The Shakespeare Quartos Archive

The Shakespeare Quartos Archive expands the British Library’s Shakespeare in Quarto website to provide digital access to all 32 pre-1642 copies of Hamlet held by partner libraries which include the Folger Shakespeare Library, the Huntington Library, the Bodleian Library, the National Library of Scotland and the University of Edinburgh in addition to the British Library.

17th & 18th Century Burney Collection

We now have full-text access to the Burney Collection of newspapers and news pamphlets collected by Reverend Charles Burney (1757-1817) which represents the largest single collection of 17th & 18th Century English news media. With over a million newspaper pages this is a valuable addition to the Library’s Electronic Resources.

19th Century British Pamphlets

JSTOR has completed the initial release of over 8,300 significant British pamphlets from the 19th Century held in UK research libraries. Pamphlets represented an important means of public debate on social, political and technological issues of the day.
The currently available pamphlets include:
