The English Short Title Catalogue (ESTC) is now freely available online from the British Library. The catalogue lists over 460,000 items published between 1473-1800. The Guardian and Observer Digital Archive

The Guardian and Observer Digital Archive has just been launched covering the period 1821-1975 for the Guardian and 1900-1975 for the Observer. This archive includes every page, article and advert published during these periods and from next year  it is hoped to extend the dates up to 2003.
